Ok so The new trailer for the Guardians Of The Galaxy Volume 3 is now out and throughout this video, we’re gonna be breaking down the easter eggs, and hidden details and also giving our theories on what could be happening with the plot. You’ve turned the video off haven’t you but if you’re still here let’s get into the breakdown.
Since You’ve Been Gone
Now as always James Gunn has picked the perfect song to accompany the trailer and in the background, we can hear the song since you’ve been gone by Rainbow. This is very much about someone who lost love and they’re hyper-focused on the breakup of it.
It contains lyrics like
I get the same old dreams same time every nightFall to the ground and I wake upSo I get out of bed, put on my shoes and in my headThoughts fly back to the breakup
These four walls are closing inLook at the fix you put me in
This is of course representing Peter who’s been on a big journey since losing his Gamora in 2014. The person in the song is asking the person they love to get back with them and Quill is very much explaining to Gamora in this opening. We catch him down on his luck in the bar on nowhere that we last saw him in the holiday special. In that scene, Peter was drowning his sorrows by himself, reminiscing of the love he lost in his green-faced girl.
That’s not…I hope that’s not racist.
He’s got one bottle tipped over because he’s fully drunk it and another stood up with the pourer sticking out the top. not sure what brand it is but because it’s got that thing on the top Im guessing he’s grabbed it right off the bar. We cut to a shot of him in the blue and red costume and these are what the group end up wearing throughout the trailer. Back in Avengers Endgame Rocket had one and he’s now likely made some for the rest of the group. The blue and red uniform is what they donned in the comics.
We next see him shooting along a corridor in what’s very reminiscent of the prison escape scene in the first movie. I went back and double-checked and this is a new scene for the film though as Starlord doesn’t have the jumpsuit on. Now speaking of jumpsuits we then cut to them wearing orange ones on a ship. This has star lord talking to Gamora and basically recounting what’s happened.
I’m guessing this scene on the ship takes place after they’ve escaped the prison which we see later on in the teaser.
This is definitely overseen by the high evolutionary as we can catch one of his staff members in a white coat and later on we catch Peter jumping out of his vessel on one. In the elevator, we can also catch weird lights that have been fused with flesh. The high evolutionary is combining all kinds of flesh and machine in order to create a perfect society. However, it never will be perfect because they’re all basically the toys in Sid’s room and disfigured and changed
The High Evolutionary
In case you don’t know who he is, this is a character called Herbert Wyndham who was born in Manchester just down the road…well not down the road but near me.

Anyway, after debuting in The Mighty Thor issue 133 Herbert took an interest in the work of Nathanial Essex aka Mr Sinister.
He started carrying out genetic experiments and he even built a device known as a genetic accelerator that sped up the evolution process.
Evolution doesn’t really work like that but you know what I mean. What do you mean explain what I mean. Well, a Raccoon is as evolved as you are because evolution weeds out the ones who aren’t strong enough to survive in certain environments. The ones that flourish there can have children and pass on their genes to them, Further ones are weeded out and so on and so forth until you get a species that is perfect for where it is due to mutations.

Over the decades the High Evolutionary has created several atrocities and he’s bred Dalmations with Chimpanzees and so on and so forth.
I’m guessing that he’s had a number of failures but that Rocket will be the one who worked and thus he’ll be trying to get him once more in order to unlock the secret of how to create more hybrids.
Interestingly this film will have lots of characters in it that have been experimented on.
Get the Tissues Ready… No Not Like That…
Firstly we have Cosmo who we got to see more of in the recent Holiday special. After the Collectors base was destroyed in the first movie the dog was freed and we heard it speak in the special whilst demonstrating its telekinetic powers. Voiced by Maria Backalova she’s backalova this movie too and will be playing a much bigger role. During the space race, The Russians sent several dogs into the stars to see what the effects of travel would have on a living creature. The first to orbit the earth was Laika and she did so in Sputnik. Sadly the dog died due to overheating because of the stress the journey caused but the soviets did manage to bring other dogs back as part of the programme.
Cosmo is going to have been gone a long time and using a universal translator the group will be able to talk to her. I dunno how the dog is still alive from the 60s but time obviously works differently in space. James Gunn has said that this movie will be one of the saddest MCU films ever and I do have a feeling that potentially either Cosmo or Rocket will die.
I dunno how many years the little guy has left but either way we are gonna be getting a showdown between him and his creator. Might actually come to accept that he is in fact a racoon.
