Shazam Movie: First Screening Reactions

The release of Shazam is right around the corner and early screenings have been happening pretty much for the best part of a year now.

Recently a viewer who has watched the entire film contacted me on twitter to go through their thoughts on the film and some of the key scenes and plot details.

Throughout this video, I’ll be discussing major plot elements of the movie so there will, of course, be heavy spoilers. This tweet is 100% legitimate and the person has absolutely no reason to lie and they’ve been correct on a lot of aspects on other film’s that I’ve covered in the past. I’ve deliberately hidden their details by request as they signed an NDA and I don’t want them to get into any trouble.

Shazam Movie: First Screening Reactions

In the tweet the viewer says:

it actually was really good. totally diff tone than any DC movie. it was very funny. I laughed a lot. the villain is Mark Strong and he’s good but a little run of the mill. he wasn’t worthy to be Shazam as a kid so he’s on the hunt for who is. that’s probably the weakest point tbh. Billy Batson and the rest of the adopted kids KILL it and are an absolute highlight. Billy figuring out his powers is an awesome sequence. great references to the universe, its clearly a DCU movie. A batarang is involved & a neck down shot of Superman is in the what I think is the post credit scene.

When I asked if this was the best DC Movie so far, they said:

No. Hard to judge completely with the cut I saw. Man of steel is still my #1 tbh. better than SS absolutely. I’m still to this day undecided on BvS lol …on par w WW & probably better as a movie than JL.

Superman Returns

In regards to the Superman shot, it appears that this is just a stand-in and DC may have just inserted this to show their plans. Obviously with news of Henry Cavill’s departure now up in the air we will see upon release whether this happens or not.
