IT: Chapter Two is just around the corner and fans are waiting with bated breath for the first teaser trailer for the film to be released. For those who can’t wait for the final showdown between Pennywise The Clown and the older members of The Loser’s Club, I decided to put together a list of everything that we know so far about the upcoming film.

Throughout this video, I’ll be discussing all of the key information circulating about the film as well as what I think it implies.

There may be some spoilers here, so if you don’t want to know anything about the film then I highly suggest that you turn off now.

With that out the way, I’m Deffinition and let’s dive into everything we know so far about IT: Chapter 2.

IT: Chapter 2 Release Date

Ok so the first thing to know is that IT: Chapter Two will release worldwide on September the 6th 2019. The film stars James McAvoy, Jessica Chastain, Bill Hader and of course Bill Skarsgard.

Filming began at the end of June 2018 and wrapped coincidentally on Halloween of the same year. Filming took place mainly in Canada with a lot of set photos from Port Hope making their way online. In these images we saw Pennywise atop of a statue as well as in a swamp, showcasing that the character will indeed still be taunting our main cast of characters.

IT: Chapter Two Story

So, what can we expect to see in the movie storywise when it’s released? Well, it’s a pretty safe assumption that the film will follow the latter part of the book by Stephen King and centre around the Loser’s Club returning to take down Pennywise.

The movie itself will be set in present day and take place 27 years after the first film. It sees the group meet up once more and go back to Derry and focuses on everything that they’ve done so far in life and how their childhoods have affected them.

For those who can’t wait to find out what happened to the characters and haven’t read the book or seen the initial miniseries, Mike now works as a librarian in Derry, Bill has become a bestselling horror novelist, Ben is an architect, Beverly is a fashion designer and Richie is a late night television comedian. Eddie still lives with his mother and runs a limo service which Stan is a real estate broker.

The film’s conflict comes not only from Pennywise but also from the reformation of the group with many not wanting to accept their oath and return to potentially face death.

The most notable change that has happened to the characters that differs from the source material is that Mike has now become a drug addict after the toll of dealing with such a traumatic childhood.

Whilst the internet was awash with casting news centered around the adults, the younger counterparts of the characters will still play a big role.

The Ritual Of The Chud

Most notably the film will retain one of the strangest elements of the book named “the Ritual of Chüd.”

In the original novel, this involved the Losers Club performing jokes and other abstract things to ward off Pennywise. It’s extremely surreal and deals with many metaphysical concepts but screenwriter Gary Dauberman has confirmed that it indeed appears in the film.

When discussing this in an interview with Cinema Blend he stated:

“The Ritual of Chüd is challenging, but it’s such an important component to the book that we had to address it, “That stuff is difficult to balance, but because the creative team worked with each other before, when I’m writing pages and all that stuff, it becomes more of a conversation and less like, ‘Hey, here’s what I did.’ It’s sort of organic; it’s really kind of just chipping away at the stone and trying to find the most focused, accessible way into some of more metaphysical aspects of that book.”

The Ending Of IT: Chapter 2

Personally I think that the first part of the film will deal with the losers reuniting with one another and then deciding that this is a bad idea. However, they reunite after a large driving force comes into play.

If you don’t want the fate of the characters spoiled then thanks for sticking around this long but feel free to turn off now as the next part of the video will deal with heavy heavy spoilers.

Ok, 3, 2, 1…

So in the book we learn that Stan infact commits suicide over the ordeal as an adult. I imagine that this will be a massive part of the second film and will be the real motivator for the Losers Club to return to the inner sanctum of Pennywises’ lair.

In the latter part of the novel, they go there to take him head on and discover his true form which is a gigantic spider.

Whilst some are stunned by the beast’s deadlights, using the wounds that they inflicted as children they are able to take it head-on.

Whilst they manage to rip out it’s heart and kill it, Eddie, unfortunately, dies in the conflict.

In the end, they go their separate ways and their memories of the event fade over time. Richie is cast in a film whilst Beverly and Ben get married.

The Film Adaptation

I can see the film building upon this and perhaps throwing a few curveballs as well as lingering longer on the final fates of the characters but I guess we will all find out soon enough upon the film’s release.
