Did you catch this in The Last Of Us Episode 2?

Ok so at the start of The Last Of Us episode 2 we meet a scientist in Jakarta days before the Cordyceps hit the US. Picked up in a restaurant we see she is taken in to study one of the first infected. Turns out that the cordyceps have gotten into flour and this is how they spread so quickly. Jakarta is home to the world’s biggest flour mill and thus the fungus is able to spread to the rest of the planet really easily. Now we’ve already covered how Joel, Sarah and Tommy avoided specific foods during Episode 1. The reason that the Addlers got infected was because the older one could be seen being fed biscuits on the driveway. They of course had raisin cookies whereas Sarah avoided this along with the birthday cake that they didn’t end up having for Joel.

Now we start off episode 2 meeting the scientist eating at a restaurant. It’s actually possible that she was infected here and huge shoutouts to Nina Sr on our big breakdown for pointing out that there are some clues she is. Firstly when she pulls out the cordyceps from the specimen’s mouth they move towards her. We later learn they’re very much a connected brain and that they try and grow together.

We then see her in an office drinking a cup of tea and she sits shaking away. As we know, the infection causes muscle spasms and it’s possible that these two elements so that she is slowly being taken over.
