Deadpool Kills The Marvel Universe Review By Deffinition
Deadpool has always been hit and miss for me. Whilst it is part of his characterisation to be annoying, this often grates on me. I would even go so far as to say that I didn’t enjoy the movie all that much and found it to be overly crass and middle of the road plot wise.

However, it cannot be denied that the character is very, VERY, popular.

With the book: Deadpool Kills The Marvel Universe, I will see if the character can be as endearing as he is obnoxious. This is my first DP graphic novel so it has a lot of potential to either put the character in a positive or negative light.

With that out the way let’s dive into Deadpool Kills The Marvel Universe.

Murderer With A Mouth
Opening with Deadpool murdering The Fantastic Four, the book gets off to a flying start. It’s fascinating to see Mr. Fantastic melt to death as his skin droops and sags and the deaths of the characters will definitely stick with you. It adds intrigue to the work and opens a can of worms in terms of questions that you will be desperate to have answered. The main one being ‘why has Deadpool decided to kill everyone?’
Ravenscroft Asylum
In a desperate attempt to cure Deadpool of his madness, the X-Men section the merc with a mouth at an insane asylum. Unbeknownst to them the lead Psychiatrist is actually Psycho Man. A powerful manipulator who wishes to enslave the superhumans Of The Marvel Universe and use them to take over the world.

Deadpool escapes his control and brutally murders to Psychic, vowing to end everything once and for all and inviting us to have a front row seat to the carnage.

It’s a cracking opener and one that allows you to relate the protagonists methods on some level, even if they still do seem a bit bat shit crazy.

No Villain Is Out Of Harms Way
Stringing up Doctor Doom, Beheading Ghost Rider and Roasting Howard The Duck, it seems like no one is safe. Including Spider-Man.

Kick starting issue two with the web head’s murder, it’s clear that Deadpool has lost it. Banding together, The Avengers realise that they will have to work together in order to take down this new threat. Expecting this, Deadpool has set a trap and using the Pym Particles to infiltrate their meeting he blows all of them to kingdom come.

As much as this move was inspired I also felt that it was to the book’s detriment. I would have loved to see a showdown between the world’s most famous superhero team and due to its exclusion the book feels underdeveloped.
‘It’s all too easy’
My biggest criticism of the work is that Deadpool slaughters the majority of his foes with relative ease. With no one able to match the merc, there is very little tension in each confrontation. It becomes cliched that Deadpool is ripped apart by (insert hero name), (insert hero name) turns their back and then they are stabbed in it. This quickly becomes grating and I would’ve loved to see some creativity in a character that is supposed to be so spontaneous.

‘I’ll see you soon’
The story ends on Deadpool explaining that he has discovered he is a comic book character. Breaking the fourth wall (literally) he arrives at the Marvel offices to kill his creators.

It’s a nice touch but is very run of the mill and expected by a character who constantly talks to the reader. I was honestly expecting a more mind bending closer and this was a huge disappointing for an overly average book.

The Verdict
Deadpool Kills The Marvel Universe is a disappointing book. Due to its short length and predictable conclusion it failed to excite me. I wish I could really recommend this but…gdujfghff (samurai blade stabs through the writer).
