Top 6 Annabelle Facts You Didn't Know for Annabelle Creation As well as all Easter Eggs

The Real Life Annabelle

So I saw Annabelle Creation last night and whilst I had a lot of problems with the movie, mainly people doing that old cliche where someone’s about to discover someone THEN SOMEONE SNEAKS UP BEHIND THEM SAYING HEY WHAT YOU DOING.

It’s like everyone was deaf, and an idiot ESPECIALLY ANNABELLE AT THE START. It was an ok film. There are several aspects of Annabelle based in real life and whilst some of them, mainly that the ENTIRE PLOT AND BACKSTORY OF THE FILM INCLUDING THE DOLLS LOOK, HISTORY, POSSESSION AND ALL OF ITS CHARACTERISTICS ARE NOTHING LIKE THE MOVIE VERSION, it’s interesting to see how this small ghost story became a huge multi million dollar franchise. So I’ve made a list of my top 6 facts that you didn’t know about Annabelle. This video contains spoilers.

Annabelle Fact One

In 1970, a woman purchased a Raggedy Ann doll in a second-hand store as a Christmas present for her daughter, Donna, a nursing student in Hartford, Connecticut. Donna kept the doll on her bed. Everything seemed quite innocent until Donna brought Annabelle to the kitchen for breakfast table where the doll straightened out her arms and put them on the table. ALLEGEDLY. From there, things only became weirder. Soon, Donna and her roommate Angie often came home to find Annabelle on the couch when she’d been left locked in Donna’s room.

After a month of Annabelle’s eerie antics, Donna decided to contact a medium. The psychic told Donna and Angie that a 7-year-old girl named Annabelle had been tragically slain on the apartment property. The child had taken residence inside Donna’s doll. Annabelle felt comfortable with Donna and Angie. The young nurses, already compassionate souls, decided that there was no harm in welcoming Annabelle into their home.

Annabelle Fact Two

Fact Two centres around the Warrens, which are the paranormal investigators who appear in The Conjuring films. After the attack on Lou, Donna asked her priest for help. Enter Ed and Lorraine Warren. The Warrens soon came to a disturbing conclusion: Donna’s doll was not possessed by the ghost of a young girl, but a cunning demon that had its sights set on Donna’s soul. The Warrens called in a priest to perform an exorcism on Annabelle. Afterwards, Donna asked the Warrens to take the doll with them. Anticipating unholy activity, the Warrens avoided the interstate and took the back roads home. After repeated trouble with the engine, brakes and steering, Ed stopped the car. Opening the trunk, he doused Annabelle with holy water. Annabelle behaved herself. At least for a while.

Annabelle Fact Three

When Ed Warren recounted Annabelle’s story to a priest, the latter reportedly dismissed Annabelle with “You’re just a rag doll, Annabelle, you can’t hurt anything.” Lorraine sensed trouble for the priest and warned him to drive carefully. He later called to tell Lorraine he’d been in a near fatal car wreck on the way home when his breaks failed .One visitor to the Occult Museum broke the rules by opening Annabelle’s box and touching the doll, apparently challenging her to “do her worst.” Later that day, the man allegedly died in a motorcycle accident. His girlfriend survived, but had to spend nearly a year in the hospital recovering from her injuries.

Annabelle Fact Four

Director David F. Sandberg originally started out as a YouTube video creator. He made a short 2 minute video in which a woman flicks the lights in her home back and forth between off and on, seeing a mysterious shadow when the lights are off. After going viral the director was given a full feature length movie on the video and this later became Lights Out. Released in 2016.

Similar to this YouTube to Hollywood journey, Sandberg and New Line cinema are holding a competition in which YouTube directors can submit a 2 minute short that could potentially be made into a film. However, if you read the small print on the contract, if the studios decide to make your idea into a film the most you will receive from it is $100. Awww thank you Hollywood, it’s so good that now you’ve decided to stop making sequels and reboots and instead let more creative people do all the work whilst you just give them the bare minimum for doing your job for you. That’s so nice.

Annabelle Fact Five

Recently we’ve seen a string of masks on female characters. Similar to doctor poison in Wonder Woman, Annabelles mother wears a plastic mask that covers her face. Before plastic surgery was fully developed these masks used to be used heavily by survivors of the First World War and people with major facial disfigurements.

Marilyn Manson Nun

Annabelle Fact Six

In the film we get a minor glimmer of a nun in the background of a photograph. When slowed down this can clearly be seen to show the Nun from the Conjuring films played by Marilyn Manson. The film also neatly ties in with the original Annabelle film by ending where that one begins.
